OUR TRADITION

Our firm traces its roots back to 1906, when Lieutenant Colonel E. B. Edwards opened a law practice in Edmonton on Jasper Avenue. The firm prospered, adding lawyers such as Louis Madore, Lucien Dubuc and, in 1914, George Archibald. Archibald Edwards (as the firm became known) and its successors have been providing quality legal services to Edmonton and area since then. With the addition of Richard G. Wheatley in 1954 and Rostyk Sadownik in 1960, the firm gained its current senior partners. In 1978 the firm became known as Wheatley, Sadownik & Company, and since 1985 has operated in Sun Life Place under its current name. Nestor Makuch, who joined the firm in 1983, was admitted to the partnership in 1990.

In August 2005, Richard G. Wheatley celebrated fifty years of practice at the Alberta Bar. He retired on December 23, 2005, at which time Lana Robinton became a partner.

Throughout its existence, the firm has continued to maintain a balance between innovation and tradition. Controlled costs

We advise our clients of the basis on which our fees are charged. We will consider contingent fee percentage arrangements in some circumstances (usually personal injury claims). We are happy to provide an estimate of the cost of any particular service. We will work within your pre-authorized budget, and will consult with you before undertaking any aspect of the work which will exceed your budget.
